Bologna coach Roberto Donadoni is deliberating over the option of signing Liverpool flop Mario Balotelli on a loan deal.

Following a disastrous loan spell at AC Milan, Balotelli’s stock in the market has fallen, and with Liverpool also keen to wash their hands of him, the Italian’s future is on a knife edge.

A number of mid-table and lower mid-table Serie A clubs have been linked with a move for the 26-year-old forward, but nothing concrete has yet emerged from the speculation.

Bologna are the latest club showing an interest in the Italian forward, and with Liverpool ready to offload him on a free loan, and pay a large portion of his wages, the Rossoblu are seriously considering taking up the option.

However, the last decision has been left with coach Donadoni, and according to Italian daily La Repubblica, the experienced Italian coach is deliberating over signing Balotelli.

It has been suggested that Donadoni is planning to change the system at Bologna this season, and has been reflecting whether the mercurial forward can fit into his formation.

Balotelli’s form since joining Liverpool in 2014 has been poor, and he has even been out of favour with the Italian national team because of his all round game and attitude.

Donadoni is deliberating whether he can extract anything out of a player, who has shown very little appetite for goals in recent years, and was a bit part player at AC Milan towards the end of last season.
