West Ham have established contact with Chelsea linked defender Nikola Maksimovic’s agent over a transfer to England this month.

The defender’s future is looking increasingly away from Torino after manager Sinisa Mihajlovic slammed the Serbian for his effort and commitment as the player didn’t turn up for a training session last week.

With Maksimovic veering towards the exit door in Turin, Napoli are the ones who are pushing to sign him this summer, but they are about to face stiff competition from the Premier League.

West Ham have taken note of the rumblings in Turin, and according to Sky Italia, they contacted the player’s agent in recent days to discuss the possibility of signing the 24-year-old central defender.

The Hammers are still in the market for players, and the Serbian has emerged as a target for the club in the last month of the window, as they look to bolster their resources further for the new season.

Chelsea have also shown an interest in the player, but it has been suggested the Blues are not convinced about the Serb, and are looking at other options.

Napoli are considered as the favourites in the chase, but Torino would prefer to sell him to a club outside Italy, which could hand the advantage to West Ham if they come up with an offer in the next few days.
