Fiorentina are exploring taking Pedro Obiang back to Italy from West Ham United and it has been suggested a fee of £5m may do the trick.

The 24-year-old was only snapped up by the Hammers from Serie A side Sampdoria last summer, but just 12 months later there are suggestions that he is surplus to requirements under Slaven Bilic at the London Stadium.

Obiang was on the bench for West Ham's Premier League opener against Chelsea, though he did feature in Thursday night's Europa League playoff round tie first leg away at Astra Giurgui in Romania.

The midfielder's stock remains high in Italy and Fiorentina are looking at a potential move to take Obiang back to the country, according to Italian daily La Nazione.

It is claimed that a bid of £5m may be enough to tempt West Ham into selling the Spaniard.

Last season, Obiang made 37 appearances in all competitions for the Hammers, though he failed to open his goalscoring account for the club.

Fiorentina managed a finish of fifth in Serie A last term and are looking to knock on the door of the Champions League places in the coming campaign.

Obiang is under contract with West Ham until 2019.
