Jan Vertonghen has wished Siem de Jong good luck after his move to PSV Eindhoven, but not too much.

De Jong has completed a switch to PSV on a season-long loan from Newcastle United, as he looks to play regular first team football this term in his homeland.

The 26-year-old, who joined Newcastle from Ajax in 2014, played alongside Spurs defender Vertonghen in Amsterdam, with the pair tasting Eredivisie title success under now Inter coach Frank de Boer.

Vertonghen is keen to see De Jong enjoy his spell at PSV, but given the centre-back still roots for Ajax, has tempered his good luck message.

Vertonghen wrote on Twitter: "Siem has played respectfully and fair!

"He is enthusiastic and just wants to play football!

"Good luck friend! (But not too much)."

De Jong will be looking to shrug off a disappointing spell at Newcastle back in his homeland with PSV.

The Dutchman suffered with injuries at St. James' Park and last term played only 442 minutes of Premier League football.

Now Magpies boss Rafael Benitez has decided his side's push for promotion back to the Premier League would be better served without De Jong in his side.

His contract with Newcastle is set to run until 2020.
