Aston Villa are set to rival Udinese for the signature of Hellas Verona’s Federico Viviani.

The defensive midfielder, who joined Hellas Verona from Roma last summer, put in several impressive displays during the 2015/16 campaign.

Viviani managed three goals and provided five assists in 19 league appearances last term, but his performances were not enough to keep Hellas Verona in Serie A as they finished bottom of the table and were duly relegated.

However, Viviani’s displays did not go unnoticed as Udinese are keen to snap up the Italian, but the Serie A outfit will not have a free run at the 24-year-old, with Aston Villa also entering the fray, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Villains are desperate to bounce back to the Premier League, having suffered relegation from the top tier last season, and have identified Viviani as a possible summer target.
