Fiorentina are in talks with West Ham for the signature of midfielder Pedro Obiang in the final week of the transfer window.

The Spaniard joined West Ham from Sampdoria last summer, and despite 35 appearances in all competitions, the midfielder struggled to nail down a starting spot in Slaven Bilic’s starting eleven.

The new Premier League season also began with him starting on the bench, and he played just a minute against Bournemouth last weekend, leading to speculation that the Spaniard could be open for a move in the final days of the summer window.

Fiorentina are interested in taking Obiang back to Italy, and according to Gazzetta dello Sport, they have made an initial offer of €6m for the 24-year-old midfielder.

The Serie A outfit are engaged in negotiations with the Hammers over an agreement for the midfielder and are keen to get the deal over the line before deadline day next Wednesday.

However, it remains to be seen whether Bilic is willing to lose Obiang in the last few days of the window before lining up a replacement for the Spaniard.

He has a contract until 2019 with the club and already has 99 Serie A appearances under the belt from his stint at Sampdoria.
