West Ham are close to securing the signature of Italian striker Simone Zaza after finalising an agreement with Juventus and the player’s representatives.

The transfer saga surrounding the forward appears to be reaching its conclusion as the 23-year-old is expected to be on his way to east London in the final week of the transfer window.

A mooted transfer to Wolfsburg collapsed earlier this month, and there was speculation that he wanted to continue in Serie A, with other top Italian clubs interested in snapping him up.

However, according to Italian sports daily Gazzetta dello Sport, West Ham are on the cusp of securing Zaza’s signature, and have agreed a deal with Juventus and the player’s representatives.

It has been claimed that Juventus will pocket an initial transfer fee of €25m, and an addition €3m in bonus payments based on Zaza’s performances at the Olympic Stadium.

West Ham have also thrashed out terms with the player’s representatives, and Zaza will sign a five-year contract with the Hammers, worth €3.5m, almost double the amount he earns currently at Juventus.

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic reportedly spoke with the player personally to steer him towards east London and Zaza has provided his green signal to the summer switch.

The Italy international is expected to be in London soon to finalise his transfer to West Ham.
