West Brom have barged into the chase for Arsenal target Lucas Perez and have sent officials to Spain to hold talks with the player’s agent over a proposed move to the Hawthorns this summer.

Arsenal made a late move for the 27-year-old Deportivo La Coruna striker earlier this week, and reportedly moved ahead of Everton in the chase for the Spaniard after agreeing to meet his release clause of €20m.

The deal is now down to the striker’s will, and he is widely speculated to be on his way to north London, but it seems the saga could see some late twists towards the end of the window.

According to local A Coruna daily La Voz De Galicia, West Brom have forced their way into the negotiations for Perez, and have sent officials to Spain in order to hold talks with the player’s agent.

The Baggies are willing to meet his release clause if the striker agrees to a move to the Hawthorns, and are currently willing to offer a more lucrative contract to the Deportivo man.

West Brom are claimed to be offering a wage package of around €3m per season to the player, and Arsenal are even struggling to meet Everton’s €2m per season contract offer for Perez.

However, Arsenal have Champions League football to offer, and are hoping that the lure of playing against Europe’s elite will do the trick in their chase for the striker.

While Deportivo have conceded that they will lose the forward this summer, Perez is yet to make a decision and now has three Premier League offers to choose from.
