West Ham United will not allow Dimitri Payet to leave the club in the final stage of the summer transfer window.

Speculation has continued to rage over the future of Payet, who further enhanced his reputation at Euro 2016 with France.

But West Ham are not prepared to allow the former Marseille man to leave the London Stadium before the window slams shut on Wednesday night.

"[In] no circumstances my dad would allow Payet to leave in this transfer window", Jack Sullivan, son of West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan, wrote on Twitter.

Payet will have to make do without European football if he stays at West Ham though after the Hammers exited the Europa League.

The Frenchman was absent on Thursday evening as West Ham lost 1-0 at the London Stadium to Romanian outfit Astra Giurgiu, slipping out of the Europa League 2-1 on aggregate in front of a packed ground.

It remains to be seen whether Payet is involved on Sunday afternoon when West Ham take on Pep Guardiola's Manchester City side at the Etihad Stadium in a Premier League fixture.
