Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini is not convinced by West Ham United midfielder Pedro Obiang.

The Giallorossi are looking to add a midfielder before the transfer window slams shut on Wednesday night and they have been linked with bidding for former Sampdoria man Obiang.

But according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, Sabatini is not convinced that Obiang is the right fit for what his side need.

Another player under consideration is Monaco's Joao Moutinho.

Sabatini is also not fully sold on the Portugal international though, as he is considered a very expensive option.

Indeed, Moutinho is under contract with Monaco for a further two years and takes home a hefty €5m per season, a total that is giving Roma pause for thought over a potential swoop.

Roma also do not have the revenue stream of Champions League football this season as they were knocked out in the playoff round by Moutinho's former club, FC Porto, 4-1 on aggregate.
