Nottingham Forest are battling with Serie B club Spezia for the signature of Napoli youngster Nicolao Dumitru.

The 24-year-old forward is expected to be on the move from last season's Serie A runners-up, but it is not yet clear where Dumitru, who has been capped by Italy at youth level, will play his football this term.

Both Forest and Spezia want the striker on their books and according to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia, the player is currently mulling which side to join.

Born in Sweden to a Romanian father, who is an Italian citizen, Dumitru came through the youth ranks at Empoli before being quickly snapped up by Napoli, where he was earmarked for big things.

The striker, who won caps for Italy at Under-19 and Under-20 level, has been out on a series of loans after struggling to break into the Napoli first team.
