Chelsea have made an approach to sign West Ham United defender Angelo Ogbonna as their centre-back search picks up pace.

The Blues are desperate to add another centre-back to the ranks this summer, but have so far met with disappointment, seeing bids for players at AC Milan, Napoli and Lazio knocked back.

And recently Paris Saint-Germain are claimed to have refused an offer for David Luiz, sold to the French club by Chelsea in 2014.

Now, according to Sky Italia, the Blues are making a play for West Ham defender Ogbonna.

Chelsea have approached the Hammers about signing Ogbonna before the transfer window closes, however it remains to be seen what West Ham's response will be.
