Wolfsburg officials are pessimistic about the club's chances of signing Heung-Min Son from Tottenham Hotspur after the English side signalled they will only let him go for a big-money bid in excess of €30m.

The Wolves had only just come to terms with having to fork out €30m for Son and now, according to German magazine Kicker, feel the deal is off as Spurs look ready to keep hold of the South Korea international.

Son himself is claimed to be ready to return to Germany, where he starred with Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen, and has already agreed personal terms with Wolfsburg.

But in the absence of an agreement between the clubs, the forward is going nowhere.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has signalled to Son that he will be counting on him this season and is not willing to see him leave, but Wolfsburg have been alive to the fact that such words may just be further poker in the transfer saga.

With Wolfsburg increasingly pessimistic about a deal going through, Son may find himself still at White Hart Lane when the transfer window closes tomorrow evening.

Son only joined Spurs last summer, signing from Bayer Leverkusen.
