Moussa Sissoko could be stuck at Newcastle United with the transfer deadline day fast nearing its end.

The midfielder, who is desperate to quit Newcastle United after the club were relegated from the Premier League last season, was the subject of a bid in the region of £20m from Tottenham Hotspur yesterday.

The Magpies rejected the bid as they value Sissoko at £30m, with the 27-year-old’s stock rising after his displays for France in the European Championship in the summer.

Spurs are preparing to come back with an improved offer in excess of £20m for the Frenchman on deadline day, but it is still expected to be short of Newcastle United’s asking price.

Although there is still time for a bid or two to come in, there is a chance of Sissoko staying put at St James’ Park as the Magpies are unwilling to let go of the player on the cheap, according to the Shields Gazette.
