Schalke are insisting that Max Meyer will stay at the club despite late interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

The Premier League club have been willing to pay €45m to Schalke to snap up the highly-rated attacking midfielder, as they aim to make a splash on deadline day.

But according to Sky Deutschland, Schalke have resolved not to sell Meyer and insist that the 20-year-old will be staying put and not leaving on deadline day.

It had been suggested that if Spurs increased their €45m proposal then Meyer could be sold, but Schalke are firm that the midfielder is 100 per cent certain to stay put.

The news is another blow for Spurs, who are finding it tough to do business today.
