Former Leeds United head coach Neil Redfearn feels that Garry Monk must waste no time in nailing down what is his best eleven.

Monk succeeded Steve Evans at Elland Road in the summer and put pen to paper on a one-year contract, returning to football after being sacked in 2015 by Swansea City.

He has brought in eleven new players, but has endured a tough start to the season with only one win collected in five games. Leeds currently sit just outside the relegation zone on goal difference, with four points.

Redfearn thinks the key thing going forward will be for Monk to settle on his best starting side, with the former Swansea boss having chopped and changed.

He also stressed that Monk has never managed in the Championship before and must get to grips with the demands of the division.

"That's the big thing [settling on a starting eleven] and that's what I think he's got to come to terms with pretty quickly", Redfearn told TV Yorkshire.

"He will have been looking at his players, looking at the games, looking at the standard of opposition.

"You've got to remember that this is the first time Garry Monk has managed in the Championship.

"He has managed in the Premier League, but this is a different type of football", the former Leeds boss added.

Leeds face a Yorkshire derby clash at home against Huddersfield Town after the international break.

Huddersfield are currently the Championship's surprise leaders.
