Former Liverpool defender Phil Babb thinks the new Main Stand at Anfield will bring the fear factor back to the ground and says Leicester City have no idea what is about to hit them today.

The finished expansion work over the summer has remodelled the Main Stand, creating an impressive structure and thereby boosting Anfield’s capacity by about 8,500.

Liverpool, who officially unveiled the new Main Stand yesterday, will play their first home game of the season today against Premier League champions Leicester City.

And Babb, who turned out for Liverpool between 1994 and 2000, is expecting an extra vociferous atmosphere at Anfield, with the inclusion of the new stand.

The 45-year-old went on to add that the added attendance at Anfield is sure to intimidate the visiting teams and make the venue a feared place for rivals.

“It’s absolutely phenomenal, it’s a feat of engineering”, he told LFC TV’s Preview Show.

“To get another 8,500 fans in there, the noise [on Saturday] is going to be fantastic.

“I am glad that the lads trained there last night, just to get used to the dimensions. It’s so impressive.

“But Leicester don’t know that, they don’t know what’s going to hit them when they walk out at Anfield and it starts to fill up.

“It’s going to be intimidating for them, and that’s what we want, we want that fear factor back at Anfield.

“And that stand certainly is going to provide that.”

Liverpool, who have failed to win their last two Premier League outings, are currently 11th in the standings with four points from three games, five adrift of  top spot.
