Nantes are expected to complete the signing of Charles N'Zogbia, who was on trial at Sunderland, on a one-year deal today, according to French sports daily L’Equipe.

The 30-year-old, who left Aston Villa after the expiration of his contract in the summer, is a free agent and thus can sign for a new club even after the closure of the transfer window.

N'Zogbia was on trial with Sunderland, and even featured for the Black Cats in pre-season games.

But a move never materialised, and it seems the winger is now on his way back to France with Nantes.

The Ligue 1 outfit have made significant efforts to match N’Zogbia’s wage demands, despite the Frenchman not playing a competitive game since last November.
