Celtic loanee Fiacre Kelleher has explained that he is enjoying his temporary spell at Peterhead.

The young defender, who joined Peterhead on a loan deal until January in the summer, has thus far played every game for the Scottish League One outfit this season.

Kelleher still trains at Celtic for the majority of the week before going out to play for Peterhead on weekends.

And the 20-year-old thinks the situation suits him perfectly as in addition to using the advanced training facilities at Celtic, he is also getting to taste first team action with Peterhead.

“It’s good for me because I still get the benefits of training with Celtic and then just go out and play tougher games on Saturdays”, he told Celtic TV.

“It’s good for me, I’m really enjoying it at the moment and it’s different.”

Kelleher, who is a product of Celtic’s youth system, is yet to make his senior debut for the Hoops.

As such, the centre-back feels playing first team football is what he needs presently as it is more challenging than turning out for Celtic’s development squad.

“It’s more physical than the Under-20 league, and that is what I needed”, he continued.

“It has been really good for me so far and I’m learning a lot.

“You are playing against a lot of players, who may have played in the Scottish Premiership when they were younger.

"So, they still have a lot of experience. I’m learning a lot.”

Kelleher, who is a former Ireland Under-19 international, has thus far made 10 appearances in all competitions for Peterhead.
