Nigerian businessman Aliko Dangote has admitted he is looking to take control of Premier League giants Arsenal within the next three or four years.

Dangote is a lifelong Arsenal fan and his reported wealth is around $10.9 billion. However, the depreciation of the Nigerian currency of late is reported to have seen him lose $4.4 billion.

In spite of that, the businessman is still in favour of fulfilling his lifelong dream and taking control of the club from current majority stakeholder Stan Kroenke.

Dangote confirmed his desire to be the powerbroker at the Emirates Stadium and then start to change the fortunes of a club that have not won the Premier League title in over a decade.

Kroenke has been criticised by some fans, who feel he lacks the interest and desire to drive Arsenal to the very top.

And Dangote is now eyeing swooping in to take the Gunners off the American, though he admits he must focus on his current business interests first.

Speaking to Bloomberg Television on the issue of buying the club, Dangote outlined a time frame for his purchase and said: "Maybe three to four years.

"The issue is that we have more challenging headwinds. I need to get those out the way first and start having tailwinds. Then I'll focus on this.

"It's not about buying Arsenal and just continuing with business as usual.

"It's about buying Arsenal and turning it around.

"I've run a very successful business and I think I can also run a very successful team. Right now, with what we're facing, over $20 billion of projects, I cannot do both."
