Juan Mata feels the football his team-mates played against Leicester City at Old Trafford in their 4-1 win was a sign that Manchester United are on their way back.

Jose Mourinho’s team were under pressure to get their league campaign back on track after two straight defeats, and showed intent against the Premier League champions from the first minute.

They got their rewards for some dynamic play in the 22nd minute when Chris Smalling rose the highest to turn in a Daley Blind corner to give the lead to the home side.

However, that was only the start as Manchester United motored along, and in a blitz of five minutes between the 37th and the 42nd minute, the Red Devils scored three courtesy of Mata, Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba to put the game to bed even before the break.

Demarai Gray pulled one back in the second half, but was only a consolation as Manchester United controlled the game, and created a few more opportunities to score more.

Mata feels Manchester United finally showed the quality they possess, and believes when his side are in a mood to play they are difficult team to stop.

And he wants the team to win their next two games to go into the international break on the front foot.

The Spaniard told the BBC: "We showed what we can do.

“It was a difficult week last week but I think we are back. I think it was the movement and the intensity and we showed we wanted to recover the ball quick and play the game in their half.

"If you play for a club like Manchester United and lose one or two game you know you are going to get criticised. We have won two in a row and now we have two more before the international break.

"What we want to do is play with freedom and express, we follow the manager's instructions and then we have to do what we feel.

"I think we had that today with [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic dropping, Paul Pogba going and finding the spaces."

Manchester United will next to look get their Europa League campaign back on track when they host Zorya Luhansk at Old Trafford next Thursday.
