Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has admitted the importance of home games for his side in this season’s Champions League group stage.

The Bhoys’ euphoria of returning to the competition’s group stage for the first time in three years was quickly given a reality check when Barcelona hammered them 7-0 at the Camp Nou earlier this month.

Brendan Rodgers’ men are preparing for Manchester City’s visit to the Parkhead on Wednesday night, and Griffiths is looking forward to a raucous atmosphere at home for the Scottish champions.

When asked how he is feeling ahead of the game in a Twitter Q&A, the striker said: “Buzzing.

“It should be a great atmosphere as always. Hopefully we can get a result.”

Putting aside the experience at Barcelona this month, Griffiths admits that the away games were always going to be a challenge for Celtic, but he feels they can give it a go against any side at Parkhead, which they need to on Wednesday night.

“Away games are always going to be difficult but we feel we can always challenge at Paradise.”

Manchester City are yet to lose a game this season, and are heavy favourites to continue that run against Celtic.
