Former Leeds United head coach Neil Redfearn believes Garry Monk has finally found the right balance in his team, which has resulted in more confident performances from his players in the last few weeks.

After a lackadaisical start to the season, Leeds have turned a corner in the last couple of weeks, and Saturday’s win over Ipswich Town was their fourth on the bounce in all competitions.

With Chris Wood firing up front, Pablo Hernandez pulling the creative strings, and the defence finally looking formidable, Monk’s men have looked more confident and assured about themselves in recent weeks.

And Redfearn feels the key reason behind Leeds’ recent wins is that Monk has finally found the balance he needs in his team to produce results this season.

The former Leeds boss believes with the balance in the team right, the 37-year-old is finally getting the best out of his most important players in the squad, which has resulted in a good run of form.

Redfearn told TV Yorkshire: “He has got a good balance.

“And what he has now is confidence just through the back of these good results; you can see little glimpses of players, maybe which we didn’t see at the beginning of the season.

“Hernandez is really coming into his own now, his little touches in and around the box; [Hadi] Sacko looks like he is playing with a lot of confidence now, every time he is picking the ball up it looks like he is going to go past people.

“Chris Wood looks like the complete centre forward to me – he is putting himself about, he held the ball well, and looked a goal threat.”

Leeds’ current run of four wins is their best since the 2009/10 season when they went on a five-game winning streak, including a FA Cup win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.
