Former Leeds United boss Neil Redfearn feels that ‘gunslinger’ forward Chris Wood won’t mind how the goals are being scored as long as he hits the back of the net regularly.

The 24-year-old’s recent performances in front of goal have been the catalyst for Leeds’ recent run of good form, and he was again the difference maker against Ipswich Town on Saturday.

With four goals in his last four appearances, Wood is finally realising his potential at Leeds United, and has become the main man for Garry Monk after an indifferent start to the season.

Redfearn admits that the striker’s recent performances and goals have been phenomenal, and says as long as Wood continues to hit the back of the net regularly, he won’t mind how the goals are being scored.

The former Leeds United boss told TV Yorkshire, when asked about Wood’s form: “It is phenomenal for a goalscorer.

“It’s like anything else, there are a couple of penalties in there or whatever, but the bottom line is that he is a gunslinger.

“They are not bothered how they are getting the goals, it’s important that they hit the back of the net; his goal record is excellent at this point of time.”

The New Zealand international has scored seven goals in eleven appearances in all competitions this season, and has been one of the top marksmen in the Championship.
