Former Rangers star Jonatan Johansson believes it is vitally important for Kenny Miller to keep himself fit as the striker’s presence is crucial for the Gers dressing room.

The 36-year-old, who is in his third spell at Rangers, played a crucial role in helping the Ibrox outfit return to the Scottish Premiership for the first time in four years after they had to start life in the fourth tier, following their liquidation in 2012.

Miller scored 21 goals in all competitions last season and helped guide a new-look Rangers side to the Scottish Championship title.

And Johansson, who praised Miller’s fitness level, feels the veteran forward steering clear of injuries will be vital for both himself and Rangers this term, due to his influence.

"Kenny is a fantastic player”, he was quoted as saying by the Herald Scotland.

"He is not going to be fazed by anything. He gives his all in every game he is involved in whether it is from the start or from the bench.

"He is also important for Rangers in the dressing room. It is very important that he keeps himself fit and stays involved."
