Mauricio Pochettino has thanked the travelling Tottenham Hotspur fans for their support during the club’s 1-0 win over CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Close to 200 fans travelled to Russia with Spurs, who headed into the match on the back of a three-game winning run in all competitions.

Tottenham failed to break down CSKA Moscow’s defence in the first half, with Heung-Min Son scoring the only goal of the game in the 71st minute which handed the north London outfir their first victory in this season’s Champions League.

And Pochettino, who was satisfied with the result, paid tribute to the travelling Spurs for their energy and support.

“Yes, I am very pleased [with the victory]”, he told Spurs TV.

“But first of all I want to say thank you to our fans, it was fantastic to have 200 people support us.

“It was a very difficult journey for them, I want to recognise that and say thank you one more time for their energy and support.”

Tottenham, who lost 2-1 to Monaco in their opening Champions League game earlier in the month, will next face Manchester City in a top-of-the-table Premier League clash on Sunday.

Spurs are currently just a place and four points adrift of Pep Guardiola’s team.
