Liverpool midfield enforcer Kevin Stewart believes there can be no doubt that the Reds are a bigger club than his former employers Tottenham Hotspur.

Stewart progressed through Spurs’ youth system, but failed to make any senior appearances for the north London club before being released.

The 23-year-old, who had a loan spell at Crewe Alexandra during his time at White Hart Lane, was released by Tottenham at the end of the 2013/14 campaign, with Liverpool signing him that summer.

Stewart also initially found it hard to break into Liverpool’s first team and was sent out on loan spells to Cheltenham Town, Burton Albion and Swindon Town before making his senior competitive debut for the Reds in an FA Cup game against Exeter City on 8th January.

The youngster has since made 16 appearances in all competitions for the Merseyside giants, with five of those coming in the present campaign.

And Stewart, who admitted that he was taken aback by the manner in which the Liverpool fans welcomed him on social media, thinks the Reds are surely a bigger club than Spurs.

“The bigger club for sure [is what I noticed]”, he said on LFC TV's LFC World when asked what difference he is finding between playing at Liverpool to his time at Tottenham.

“The fans, just little things, like on social media how everyone welcomes you, I never really had that before.

“Also just how close everything is here. Everything is so much closer, almost like a family.”

Stewart’s present contract with Liverpool runs until 2020, with the midfielder having been rewarded with an extended deal for his progress.
