Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he has been impressed with the added effort Theo Walcott is putting into his game in the present campaign.

The England international, whose work rate has often been criticised, has been in stupendous form this season.




Walcott scored twice in the 2-0 win over FC Basel in the Champions League on Wednesday night to take his tally to five goals in seven appearances in all competitions this term.

And Wenger, who is pleased with Walcott’s recent improved displays, thinks the fans also appreciate the added effort the 27-year-old is putting into his game.
 


"Theo Walcott has added something to his game, firstly by putting in a big effort to his application and he transfers that into his game”, he said in his pre-match press conference on Friday.

"When he plays like that you see the fans love him.

"As long as he has this kind of attitude, they will love him."

Arsenal, who are presently third in the Premier League with 13 points from six games, five adrift of leaders Manchester City, will next face Burnley in an away league fixture at Turf Moor on Sunday.

The Gunners are currently on an eight-game unbeaten run in all competitions, something which has pleased Wenger.

"It looks like we have moved forward in our game, we have found a good balance between attacking and defending and the team has more belief in what we want to do”, he added.
