Aston Villa have confirmed that they have parted ways with manager Roberto Di Matteo.

The 46-year-old took charge of the Villains in the summer, working under the new chairman Dr. Tony Xia, with the club being relegated from the Premier League last season.

But Di Matteo failed to deliver the right results as Aston Villa managed to win just one of their 12 games in all competitions under his stewardship.

The Villa Park outfit, who were expected to challenge for promotion, are winless in their last nine Championship outings, drawing seven of those.

As a result, Aston Villa presently find themselves in 19th spot in the Championship with just 10 points from 11 games, just three places and two points ahead of the relegation zone.
