Aston Villa will announce their new manager tomorrow, chairman Dr Tony Xia has confirmed.

The Championship club recently parted ways with Roberto Di Matteo, who was shown the door after a series of poor results left the Villa Park outfit in the bottom half of the table.

Di Matteo's assistant Steve Clarke was given the reins on a temporary basis and now Villa are set to confirm who they are appointing as their new permanent boss.

Xia wrote on Twitter: "Scheduled to announce the new manager tomorrow!

"Time for all to stand together and back the team! Believe we've made the best try!" he added.

Former Hull City manager Steve Bruce has been mooted as a leading contender to take over at Villa Park and is the clear bookmakers' favourite.

Bruce has had at least three conversations with Aston Villa's chief executive, however other names have been thrown into the mix too, such as Burnley's Sean Dyche.

Villa splashed the cash in the summer transfer window and are looking to challenge for promotion to the Premier League this term.
