Leigh Griffiths is hopeful about Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon keeping a clean sheet in the Hoops’ Scottish League Cup semi-final clash against Rangers on Sunday.

Gordon was in impressive form for Celtic in their 2-0 loss to Borussia Monchengladbach in a Champions League fixture on Wednesday night, with the 33-year-old making a great save from Ibrahima Traore in the first half at Paradise.

The custodian, who lost his place to summer signing Dorus de Vries earlier in the season, has put in several good performances between the sticks since returning to the starting line-up.

And Griffiths, who feels Gordon should be Scotland’s number one choice in goal, backed his Celtic team-mate to keep a clean sheet in the season’s second Old Firm derby at the weekend.

"I've said it before since Craigy walked in the door he's been phenomenal”, Griffiths was quoted as saying by STV.

"In my opinion he should be Scotland's number one. Again, it's not my decision, but he keeps proving himself time and again for Celtic.

"His save from the boy in the first half from his snapshot was world-class, so going on tonight's performance he shouldn't be too hard on himself.

"We've got a massive game on Sunday, hopefully he keeps a clean sheet and we get into that final."

Gordon, who joined Celtic in the summer of 2014, has made 15 appearances in all competitions for the Bhoys this season, keeping six clean sheets.
