Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker insists that the key to the Gunners' success of late has been their ability to find goals from all the areas of the pitch.

The Gunners are currently on a eleven game unbeaten run in all competitions, having scored an impressive 19 goals in eight league matches, the joint highest with league leaders Manchester City.

According to the German defender, what is key to Arsenal's success is that they are not just relying on one single source of goals, with many players able to score.

Mertesacker's compatriot Mesut Ozil, who operates from midfield, has scored three times in seven Premier League matches, while his team-mate Alexis Sanchez has scored four times in eight games.

The 32-year-old wants this pattern to continue as he believes that the initial flourish will come to nothing if Arsenal cannot hold on to their current form.

“We want opposition teams to walk into the Emirates and know that they are facing a team that can score goals from all over the pitch, where everyone can help out", Mertesacker told his club's official website.

“That’s been key recently – we have so many talents, so many skill sets and so many different ways of hurting teams and breaking them down.

“When we are on our game offensively, there’s not much you can do to stop us, because we have so many options. That’s a good situation for us to be in.

"But we need to maintain it now.”
