Former Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has insisted that Jose Mourinho hates losing and the Manchester United players will be aware of the fact.

Manchester United, who appointed Mourinho as their new manager in the summer, were thumped 4-0 by the Portuguese tactician’s former employers Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Red Devils have endured a stuttering start to their 2016/17 campaign and presently find themselves in seventh spot in the league table with 14 points from nine game, six points adrift of leaders and their fierce local rivals Manchester City.

And Schwarzer, who played under Mourinho at Chelsea between 2013 and 2015, explained that the 53-year-old is heavily affected by poor results.

“He’s a very emotional man, he wears his heart on his sleeve as well”, Schwarzer said on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“He takes everything to heart, he’s such a passionate man, he’s such a winner and he hates losing.

“I think that’s what every one of these guys do, you speak to any player who has worked under a very successful manager.

“They absolutely despise losing and you know when you lose, not only because of the result and the performance, you know because the manager will be so down and upset about it.”

Mourinho, who has won league titles in Portugal, Italy, Spain and England, has also guided Porto and Inter Milan to Champions League honours.

His Manchester United team will next face Manchester City in an EFL Cup clash tonight.
