Leeds United striker Chris Wood admits that it is nice to score goals, but believes the success of his team is more important than his personal feats.

The 24-year-old striker has already bagged nine goals in all competitions for Leeds, including a goal against Norwich on Tuesday night, and is the club’s top goalscorer this season.




After an indifferent start to the season where he even coped with flak from the Elland Road faithful, the Kiwi has been in a purple patch since last month and has been Leeds’ most potent attacking player.

The Leeds striker admits that scoring goals is always pleasing, but insisted that he draws more happiness from helping his side to win games and earn points, rather than finding the back of the net.
 


Asked how pleasing it has been to score goals regularly this season, Wood told LUTV: “I am always happy.

“As long as we are winning games and doing well as a team, that’s the main thing for me.

“The goals are nice to come by, but as long as we are winning I am happy.”

Wood joined Leeds from Leicester City last year and has netted 22 goals in 54 appearances for the club since then.
