Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has stressed that he is not the kind of manager Real Madrid need and he would not suit Los Blancos either.

It has been claimed in recent days that Real Madrid tried to pull off a sensation coup last year and wanted Guardiola to take over from Rafael Benitez, who received the boot at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Zinedine Zidane eventually replaced the Spaniard at the Bernabeu, but it has been suggested that the current Manchester City boss was Real Madrid president Florentino Perez’s top choice to take over from Benitez.

However, the deal was a non starter from the first moment because of Guardiola’s long association with Real Madrid’s fiercest rivals Barcelona and the Spaniard also insisted that he is not the kind of manager who would suit Los Blancos.

The Manchester City boss said in a press conference: “I am a follower of FC Barcelona.
