Jose Mourinho doesn’t feel his Manchester United side’s recent run of form has been as poor as it has been made out to be and is keen to see them take each game as it comes.

After suffering a 4-0 loss to Chelsea last Sunday, Manchester United came back to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Manchester City on Wednesday night and booked their place in the last eight of the EFL Cup.

While the Chelsea defeat has grabbed headlines, Mourinho pointed out that they have been beaten just once in the last seven games and their form has not been catastrophic.

He admits that his team need some time to gel together as a more cohesive unit, and is keen to take one game at a time for the moment in order to get results.

"In the last seven matches, we lost one. It’s better to lose one match 4-0 than four matches 1-0. It’s three points", Mourinho said in a press conference.

"Our run of results is not bad. We lost two points against Stoke, which was the best match by far in our season in terms of chance creation and opportunities.

"We are a team in process, we won’t do that in three or four months, in this moment we just think about it game by game and Burnley will be very difficult."

Manchester United are seventh in the league table and currently find themselves six points off the pace of Premier League leaders Manchester City.
