Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is of the opinion that Scott Brown and Jordan Henderson are “from the same bottle”, ahead of England’s World Cup qualifier against Scotland on Friday.

Rodgers, who took charge of the Hoops in the summer, has time and again praised skipper Brown’s performances in the present campaign.

During his managerial spell at Liverpool, the Northern Irishman made Henderson captain after the iconic Steven Gerrard left the Reds for Los Angeles Galaxy in 2015.

The Liverpool midfielder may come up against Brown at Wembley after the Scot made himself available for selection in the national team again.

And Rodgers, who praised the professionalism of both players, insisted that he is also eager to watch both his present and former charges in action against each other in the World Cup qualifier.

“They are from the same bottle, really. Both brilliant professionals”, he was quoted as saying by the Evening Times.

“I made Jordan Henderson captain at Liverpool and some people looked at that at the time.

‘But Jordan has great leadership qualities. He is a super athlete who can pass the ball.

“He learned off a great captain in Steven Gerrard. I made Jordan the vice-captain of the team in Steven’s final year and then when Steven left he could step up.

“He has taken on the mantle there very, very well.”

Besides Brown, Celtic stars Craig Gordon, Leigh Griffiths and James Forrest are also in the Scotland squad for the country's game against England.
