Neil Redfearn has warned former club Leeds United that sides will think nothing of shelling out £3.5m to sign Pontus Jansson, if they get the opportunity.

Jansson is on loan at Leeds from Italian Serie A side Torino and has already turned heads with his performances in the heart of the Whites backline.

Leeds are thought to have a purchase option on Jansson which automatically kicks in when he has made 20 appearances, but it remains to be seen what the exact terms of the agreement are and whether Torino could scupper it and sell to a higher bidder.

The purchase option price is thought to be around £3.5m and Redfearn feels Leeds must act as other clubs will be willing to pay to grab Jansson.

"There will be clubs looking in and thinking £3.5m for Jansson is nothing really in the great scheme of things", he said on Radio Yorkshire.

And the former Leeds boss believes clubs will already be sounding out Torino.

"They will be speaking to Torino, there's no two ways about it, and asking the situation.

"I just think Leeds have to make sure they have got everything in place when this window opens and then they can just go bang, bang, bang, get the players tied down and be proactive in getting maybe two or three more quality players in to help the squad", Redfearn added.

Jansson, who has already become a firm fan favourite at Leeds, has been linked with Premier League side Watford on the back of his good displays at Elland Road.
