Borussia Dortmund are set to rival Liverpool for the signature of Borussia Monchengladbach starlet midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud.

Dahoud, whose present contract with Monchengladbach runs until 2018, has been sparingly used by the Bundesliga outfit in the present campaign, reportedly due to refusing to discuss extending his deal.

The 20-year-old has thus far clocked up just 707 minutes over 10 appearances in all competitions this season, providing two assists.

Dahoud, who is yet to sign a new deal with Monchengladbach, was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool in the summer.

The Reds have retained their interest in the starlet and could look to snap him up during the winter transfer window.

However, Dortmund are also keen on Dahoud and are prepared to shell out €15m plus Nuri Sahin to rope him in, according to German daily Bild.

Sahin, who spent time on loan at Liverpool from Real Madrid in the first half of the 2012/13 campaign, is deemed surplus to requirements by BVB boss Thomas Tuchel.

Liverpool are sure to keep close tabs on the situation; it has been speculated that the Merseyside giants are ready to splurge around €30m to take Dahoud to Anfield in January.
