Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong admits that his side are hoping to show the improvements they have made this season against Barcelona tonight.

Other than a 3-3 draw against Manchester City, Celtic’s Champions League campaign has been poor and they are desperate for points going into the last two games of the group stage.

While the prospects are slim, Celtic could still hope to continue their European journey in the Europa League and if they can pull off shock results in their last two games.

But with Barcelona and Manchester City to face, not many fancy Celtic’s chances and most are expecting them to crash out of Europe in the next fortnight.

However, Armstrong insisted that despite their performance against the Catalan giants at the Nou Camp, where they suffered a 7-0 defeat, Celtic are drawing inspiration from their recent performances against Barcelona at Paradise.

The Scottish champions did beat the Spanish giants in their last visit to Paradise and the Celtic midfielder stressed that his side are keen to show that they have made improvements this season in the Champions League.

Armstrong told Celtic TV: “It is going to be tough one for us, but as history says we have done quite well against them at home.

“Obviously the away tie we had a couple of months back wasn’t something that we wanted, the performance wasn’t there, but since then we have had a good run of form.

“We got a good draw with Manchester City, probably should have won the game; two tough games against Monchengladbach, from which hopefully we can learn.

“So hopefully we can improve in our next Champions League game and get something out of it.”
