Rangers boss Mark Warburton has asked the fans to remain patient as the present Gers crop need time to evolve and grow as a team.

The Ibrox outfit, who returned to the Scottish Premiership after a gap of four years, brought in as many as 11 new players in the summer to address the demands of playing in the top tier.

Rangers also brought in several new players in the summer of 2015 and in the last winter transfer window, with the Scottish giants completing 20 signings for the first team in the past 18 months.

And Warburton, whose side are currently 11 points adrift of leaders Celtic in the league, feels the supporters need to show patience for the team to reach their full potential.

“Recruitment wise, the first team squad has had a complete revamp over the last 18 months, with 20 new players joining the long serving Lee Wallace, Kenny Miller and Barrie McKay”, he said during his speech at Rangers’ AGM.

“The priceless commodity that such a new young squad needs is time, but time is the one commodity that high expectation does not often allow.

“We need to allow the squad to evolve and grow as a team. We need to allow them to learn from their mistakes.

“We need to allow the younger players to watch the likes of Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace, Clint Hill and Niko Kranjcar and understand what it takes to be a top class professional at such a club.

"We need to be patient and allow them time.”

Rangers, who edged out Dundee 1-0 at Ibrox last weekend, are next up against Partick Thistle in an away Scottish Premiership fixture on Saturday.
