Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce believes the current crop at Leeds United are the best he has seen for several years.

Bruce takes his Villa outfit to Elland Road on Saturday to take on Garry Monk's men, who have been in sparkling form and currently sit inside the playoff places in the Championship.

Villa themselves are in good form and Bruce's men have risen to eleventh spot in the table on the back of four wins and two draws in their last six league matches.

Bruce took in Leeds' EFL Cup defeat against Liverpool at Anfield in midweek and believes Monk, who he rates, has at his disposal one of the best sides Leeds have put together for some time.

"Fair play to Garry Monk, he’s a very, very decent manager", Bruce said at a press conference on Friday.

"He’s gone into a big club.

"It might not be, from the outside, the most stable of places at times, but they’ve got a good side at the moment.

"They’ve got arguably the best side that I’ve seen for a few years. That’s credit to Garry and his chairman.

"I saw them in midweek at Liverpool and they played really well", Bruce added.

Villa are just four points behind Leeds, despite the Whites sitting fifth, in what is a tightly packed Championship. And victory at Elland Road would have Bruce's men breathing down the Whites' necks.
