Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are open to making signings in the upcoming winter transfer window.

Spurs, who saw their unbeaten record in the Premier League this season smashed by Chelsea last weekend, presently find themselves fifth in the league table with 24 points from 13 games, seven points adrift of top spot.

On the European front, Tottenham have no chance of reaching the Round of 16 of the Champions League, and need a positive result against CSKA Moscow in their final Group E game to book their place in the Round of 32 of the Europa League.

And Pochettino explained that Spurs will not shy away from the chance to improve their squad in January, if the right kind of players are available.

However, the Argentine tactician was quick to add that it is generally difficult to make those sort of signings in January.

“Like the last two seasons here, if we have the possibility to add some players that can bring things that we don’t have in the squad, we are always open to improving the squad.

"But you know always in winter it’s difficult to find that profile and to bring in a player that can help us with our squad”, he said in his pre-match press conference on Thursday.

Spurs have been linked with Genk midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, who it has been claimed is close to joining fellow Premier League outfit Leicester City.
