Rangers boss Mark Warburton believes that Clint Hill is showing himself to have been an excellent acquisition for the Gers in the summer.

Warburton swooped to take Hill to Ibrox after he was released by English Championship outfit QPR. The transfer caused some raised eyebrows amongst Rangers fans given Hill's age; the defender is now 38 years old.

The centre-back has been paired most recently with Rob Kiernan in the heart of Rangers' defence and Warburton is happy with what he has seen from the former QPR man, especially in the Gers' 2-1 win over Aberdeen at the weekend.

Warburton believes that Hill is showing his value, while also adding extra strength in Rangers' defence when it comes to dealing with high balls.

"Clint was excellent, I thought Clint and Rob on Saturday were both brilliant, it is great we have the options of Danny [Wilson] and Philippe [Senderos] but there is no doubt that Clint is showing his value, his worth, his experience and his aerial strength", he told Rangers TV.

And on the age front, Warburton sees big benefits in Hill being a veteran performer as he believes the defender can pass on his experience to the youngsters at Ibrox.

"The fact is Clint is 38, he has seen so much in football and can pass on that experience, good mature senior pros can add that quality and they can help younger players play their best and provide that confidence", he added.

Rangers will have to make do without Hill this coming weekend as he is suspended for the visit of Hearts, having been sent off in the closing stages of the win over Aberdeen.
