Pontus Jansson has revealed that he has been impressed with the mature performances of the Leeds United youngsters this season, with the Swede making special mention of Ronaldo Vieira and Kalvin Phillips.

Vieira and Phillips have both been used heavily by new Leeds boss Garry Monk in the present campaign, while the likes of Eunan O’Kane, Liam Bridcutt and Pablo Hernandez are currently out injured.




While Vieira has made 16 appearances this season, Phillips has played 23 games, with the duo scoring one goal each.

And Jansson, who lauded the pair’s display in the 2-0 win over Aston Villa last weekend, explained that it felt as if the starlets have been playing in the Championship for 20 years.
 


The defender went on to add that not only Vieira and Phillips, but all the youngsters in the Leeds team deserve to be praised.

“Those three [O’Kane, Hernandez and Bridcutt] are good players. Players with experience”, Jansson said in a pre-match press conference on Wednesday.

“But Ronaldo and Kalvin were really, really good against Villa.

“I was impressed with those two young guys. They played as if they have played in the Championship for 20 years.

“I was really impressed. Not only those two, you can take those two as an example, the young guys are playing like experienced players.”

Both Vieira and Phillips’ present contracts with Leeds run until the summer of 2019.
