Rangers manager Mark Warburton has saluted the club's fans for their backing during Saturday's Scottish Premiership clash against Hearts at Ibrox and told the supporters that players will always respond to such passionate acclaim.

Warburton's men saw off the Jambos 2-0 with goals either side of half time from Rob Kiernan and Barrie McKay meaning Ian Cathro's first game as Hearts boss ended in defeat.




Ibrox was packed, with the official attendance coming in at 50,039, and Rangers fans backed their side passionately, something Warburton says both the players and himself do not take for granted.

The English tactician, who claims players will always respond to such superb support, wrote on Twitter: "The support today again outstanding!
 


"The players will always respond to such backing", Warburton explained.

Rangers, in second in the Premiership, now have a four-point lead over third placed Aberdeen, though the Dons do have a game in hand.

Warburton's men now switch their focus to a trip to lock horns with eighth placed Hamilton on Friday evening.
