Leeds United goalkeeper Rob Green believes that there is no reason why the Whites cannot maintain their form and remain in contention for a Championship playoff spot at the end of the season.

A defeat at Brighton dented some of the momentum the Yorkshire giants had before Friday night, but Garry Monk's men have continued to remain in the playoff spots.

Despite a poor start to their campaign, Leeds have shown grit and character to climb up the league table and Green is confident that they can carry on in the same vein for the rest of the season.

He feels Leeds have already shown that they can compete and beat some of the more fancied teams in the Championship and believes that they just need to hold on to their consistency to remain in the playoff spots at the end of the term.

The goalkeeper told BBC Radio Leeds, when asked whether the Whites can remain in playoff contention this season: “We have shown that we are capable of competing, even against the supposed fancied teams.

“We can beat teams who came down from the Premier League – we have done it twice this season, in the cup as well.

“We can do that and it’s about getting that out from everyone on a consistent basis and numbers, when the games are coming thick and fast, is going to be an issue, but everyone in the squad is getting used to it.

“We have still got room for improvement, which is a beautiful thing; we know we can improve so there is no reason why not.

“We are going to get bumps like this on the road, but the test is coming through in the next game, which is Tuesday.”
