Arsenal general secretary David Miles feels it is about time the Gunners beat Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The German champions have been one of the bogey teams for Arsenal in the competition over the years and have knocked the north Londoners out of the Champions League on numerous occasions.

Arsene Wenger’s men have again been drawn to face Bayern Munich in the Round of 16 of the competition and Miles is aware of the poor record his club have against the Bavarians.

However, he says that Arsenal are keen to improve their record against the German champions this time around and actually beat them to progress in the Champions League.

The Arsenal general secretary was quoted as saying by BeIN Sports: “Obviously it’s going to be a very tough draw against Bayern Munich.

“But to keep things in context, we’ve now been in the knockout phase of the Champions League for 14 years running.

“We’ve played Bayern Munich some five or six times over the last ten years or so; we are looking forward this time to actually beating them because every time up until now they’ve beaten us unfortunately.”

Arsenal have been knocked out of the last 16 of the Champions League for the last six years running and are desperate to get rid of this hoodoo this time around.

The Gunners finished top of their Champions League group ahead of French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
