Alexandru Maxim's agent says his client is "relaxed" about his situation in the current transfer window after it emerged Leeds United are seeking to snap the midfielder up from VfB Stuttgart.

The Romania international has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot under coach Jos Luhukay this season and his future continues to be a source of much speculation.

It was claimed earlier this week that Leeds started talks over signing Maxim before Christmas and are continuing discussions, while Hull City are also keen; the Tigers' interest though could have been affected by the sacking of Mike Phelan on Tuesday night.

But Maxim's agent has let it be known to the Stuttgarter Nachricthen that while discussions have been held with Leeds, they are not concrete, while the player favours assessing his options in the summer.

However, the midfielder could look at a switch this month if the proposal sent his way is sufficiently lucrative, the agent admitted.

And Maxim's agent Herbert Briem added: "We are relaxed about the whole situation."

Current Leeds boss Garry Monk chased Maxim during his time as Swansea City boss and is now looking to take the schemer to Elland Road to boost the Whites' promotion bid.

It remains to be seen however whether Leeds are willing to dig deep enough to turn Maxim's head this month and persuade the Romanian not to wait until the summer to assess his options.
