St. Pauli skipper Soren Gonther has sent a come-and-get-me message to Leeds United, admitting that playing in England would be a "great experience".

Gonther is currently in the thick of trying to help St. Pauli pull out of relegation trouble in the 2.Bundesliga, but with a contract that expires at the end of the season and no renewal talks having taken place, he also has one eye on a potential future elsewhere.

The 30-year-old centre-back admits that he "wouldn't mind a signal from the club" over wanting to keep him, but England is an attractive adventure given interest from Leeds United.

"England is an adventure", he told German daily Bild, swinging the door open for Garry Monk's men.

"Playing in the motherland of football would be a great experience", Gonther added.

However, the defender is looking for a deal which works for him, financially and in terms of his family, as he plots the next move in his career.

"I have a family. That's why the overall package has to be right", the defender explained.

"Even though no one says it, the financial side is also important."

Gonther is now 30 years old and suffered with a knee injury earlier this season, something which saw St. Pauli's results slump, in an indication as to his importance.

Nevertheless, the former Paderborn star says he is the best shape he has ever been, selling himself to potential suitors.

"I feel physically fit, like never before", Gonther said.

Since his return to action for St. Pauli, the club have taken five points from their last five games, while Gonther's spell out injured saw just two points taken from seven league fixtures.

St. Pauli are bottom of the 2.Bundesliga, three points off safety.
